Francesc-Josep de Rueda Roigé is currently the Director of the Department in History of Art and Musicology at the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona (UAB). He has a Bachelor’s Degree in Law , a Bachelor’s Degree in History of Art (with Extraordinary Award) and a Doctorate in History of Art (with Doctoral Thesis Prize) from the same university (UAB). Besides, he has a Postgraduate Diploma and a Master’s Degree in Egyptology from the UAB. Since 1988, he has been teaching at this University. He has been Senior Lecturer of History of Ancient and Medieval Art since 2009. Since 2008, he has been also a researcher associated with the Unité Mixte de Recherche (UMR) of the École Normale Supérieure de Paris (Équipe Mosaïque) and a corresponding member of the Association Internationale pour l’Étude de la Mosaïque Antique (AIEMA), located in Paris. In addition, he was an associate researcher in the Project on the computerization of data at AIEMA, within the framework of the Archéologies d’Orient et d’Occident unit (AOROC, Center National de la Recherche Scientifique / CNRS, Paris).
His research work has focused especially on the iconographic programs in mosaic of the Hispanic domus and villae. The results of this research were published in journals and conference proceedings. Besides, he has been interested in Catalan Romanesque art. On this matter, some studies related to medieval calendars stand out. Likewise, he published numerous articles in various volumes of the Catalunya Romànica (Enciclopèdia Catalana, Barcelona).
As a visiting professor, he gave seminars at various European universities, such as the Università di Roma I “La Sapienza”, the Seconda Università degli Studi di Napoli, l’Université de Picardie “Jules Verne” (Amiens) and the Uniwersytet Warszawski.
