{"id":1250,"date":"2023-03-16T10:21:38","date_gmt":"2023-03-16T10:21:38","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/mabilus.com\/noticia\/the-skylitzes-matritensis-under-study\/"},"modified":"2023-03-17T09:16:54","modified_gmt":"2023-03-17T09:16:54","slug":"the-skylitzes-matritensis-under-study","status":"publish","type":"noticia","link":"https:\/\/mabilus.com\/en\/noticia\/the-skylitzes-matritensis-under-study\/","title":{"rendered":"The Skylitzes matritensis under study"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-f384991 elementor-widget elementor-widget-theme-post-content\" data-id=\"f384991\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"theme-post-content.default\">\n<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n<p>Within the framework of the research project, <em>Byzantine Illuminated Manuscripts in Spain: Artworks, Context and Materiality<\/em>-MABILUS (MICINN-PID2020-120067GB-I00), and thanks to a collaboration agreement signed in December 2022 between the Universitat Aut\u00f2noma de Barcelona (UAB), the Biblioteca Nacional de Espa\u00f1a (BNE), and the Instituto del Patrimonio Cultural de Espa\u00f1a (IPCE), <em>Skylitzes matritensis<\/em> the Skylitzes matritensis (BNE, Vitr. 26-2) will be subjected to a scientific-technical study.<\/p>\n<p>For a better understanding of the genesis of this codex and other artistic issues related to its making, the IPCE will conduct a systematic analysis of parchments, the ink used, pigments, and the gilding from a selection of fourteen quires of this manuscript. This will be carried out with imaging techniques, such as photography in the visible spectrum (with different types of lighting: reflected, grazing, transmitted), fluorescence photography induced by ultraviolet radiation, infrared photography and infrared reflectography.
