María Antonia has a degree in Chemical Sciences from the Complutense University of Madrid. From 1992 to 1997, she developed her professional work at the Madrid Doping Control Laboratory (Higher Sports Council). From 1998 to 1999, she collaborated at the Public Health Laboratory of the Community of Madrid. Between 2001 and 2005, she worked as technical assistance in the study of instrumental techniques applied to the Research and Documentation of Historical Heritage at the Spanish Cultural Heritage Institute (IPCE), where she is currently, since 2006, working as a Senior Specialist in the Research and Training Area. Her work mainly consists of studying the constituent materials and their alterations, as well as monitoring and providing advice on intervention processes for different types of artworks: mural painting, easel painting, polychromed stone, archaeological material, etc. Most of the courses she has taken or participated in during the recent period focus on the development of new analytical techniques and are related to heritage conservation, among others. María Antonia is the author of several articles published in various journals.
