María Martín Gil, PhD in Science and graduate in CC. Chemistry. She is Head of the Research and Training Area of the Spanish Cultural Heritage Institute (IPCE), Ministry of Culture and Sport (2014- ). She is responsible for establishing the strategy and priorities of the Area’s activities in terms of research and study on criteria, methods and techniques for conservation. She is also in charge of the training programme of the IPCE aimed to professionals and students of postgraduate programmes to respond to the needs of the community that ensures the conservation of cultural heritage from a perspective of high scientific specialization, interdisciplinarity and quality.
She is coordinator of the NATIONAL PLAN FOR RESEARCH IN HERITAGE CONSERVATION (PNIC) to promote the coordination of actions of the different institutions with an interest in the subject, as well as new initiatives to foster and favor scientific conservation. She is also the representative of the Ministry of Culture and Sport in the Spanish node for the establishment of the E-RIHS Infrastructure (European Research Infrastructure for Heritage Science). She is the author of numerous national and international publications and regularly participates in international congresses and other similar forums related to scientific conservation.
